Zakia Bahjou is the Regional Commercial Manager of Dow Water and Process Solutions, Middle East, Africa & Turkey (MEA&T) for The Dow Chemical Company. In her capacities, Zakia is leading Dow Water & Process Solutions' (DWPS) regional sales teams and is in charge of building up organizational capabilities for the region to continue the accelerated growth across key geographies. Zakia is also responsible for enhancing customer relations and engagement with public and private entities in the region – driving targeted specification selling efforts to ensure that DWPS technologies are the first choice in the region.
Zakia’s previous experience is characterized by rapid career advancement, with almost 20 years of experience in Finance, Sales, Business Development, and Marketing. She has gained people management and leadership capabilities with global companies across the Middle East & Africa, such as Alcan Group, Tetrapak, Nestlé and Danone Baby Nutrition, gaining strong business acumen in different industries, functions and geographies.
In 2011, Zakia joined Dow as a Regional Marketing Manager for the Home, Personal and Industrial Care business, ME&A. In this role, she drove the regional strategy to optimize growth, market shares and profitability. In 2012, Zakia was appointed Regional Commercial & Marketing Manager of Dow Consumer & Industrial Solutions (DCIS), adding sales responsibilities to her duties. In early 2013, Zakia led the Advanced Materials businesses for the Middle East & Africa region, driving growth across key segments and strengthening its technology leadership position in strategic markets. She joined the Dow Water & Process Solutions team in 2014, and rapidly became the face of water innovation and sustainability in the most water-scarce region in the world – advocating cost-effective and resource-efficient technologies to address the water-energy nexus.
Zakia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a Finance Major from the École Supérieure de Commerce, Morocco, and a Master’s Degree in Marketing from the Pierre Mendès-France University in Grenoble, France.
